2014 annual writing competition

Theme: Encourage your pupils to write a narrative poem inspired by one of the works in the collection and illustrate the poem in graphic novel format.
The competition is now in its fourth year and we are delighted to announce continued support from Scottish Book Trust.

2014 competition prizes:
1st prize: 5 books, 2nd prize: 3 books, 3rd prize: 3 books
£250 worth of books for the winning pupil’s primary school

The competition is open to all primary schools wthin Argyll & Bute. Entries are invited from second level pupils.

Argyll & Bute Primary Writing Competition

CAST is glad to announce the theme for this year’s Argyll Collection Primary Writing Competition. The competition is now in its third year and we are delighted to announce continued support from Scottish Book Trust.

2013 competition prizes:
1st prize: 5 books, 2nd prize: 3 books, 3rd prize: 3 books
£250 worth of books for the winning pupil’s primary school – a wide selection of picture books suitable for early and first level.

The competition is open to all primary schools wthin Argyll & Bute. Entries are invited from second level pupils.
Encourage your pupils to write a piece of imaginative prose (short story) inspired by one of the works in the collection and incorporating the following theme:
‘THE ARTIST’S STORY’ Either a story about an imaginary artist who may have made the chosen picture or a story about why the picture was made.

2012 writing competition winners

CAST is glad to announce the winners of this year’s Argyll Collection Primary Writing Competition. There has been a large number of entries of a very high standard and the judges had a difficult time in selecting winning entries. The winning stories are posted in the ‘competition’ section above. Thanks to all who embraced the competition and entered your wonderful stories.

Painting adopted!

We are delighted to announce that Roseberry, William George Gillies CAT NO 96 has been adopted in 2012 by the Tyre Family, Dunoon.
They have kindly made the renovation and reframing of the painting possible and it will now be able to be reinststed within the main collection.
