Sir Robin Philipson RSW RGI RCAA HRHA ARSA RSA ARA RA PRSA (1916 – 1992). Born in Lancashire. Studied and taught at Edinburgh College of Art. Known for his expressionist style and rich colours. He is particularly renowned for his cockfight paintings, a series begun in the early 1950s. His later work in the 1960s explored more general figurative studies plus church and cathedral interiors and crucifixions.
